Job Summary:
The Workday HRIS Analyst plays a key role in optimizing and maintaining the Workday Human Resources Information System (HCM) within a higher education environment and is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing the university’s Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) system. This role acts as a subject matter expert for Workday HCM modules, collaborates with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT stakeholders, and ensures data integrity, system efficiency, and user satisfaction. The analyst plays a key role in supporting the university’s strategic HR initiatives through system configuration, troubleshooting, reporting, and continuous process improvement.
The Analyst will also work closely with HR, IT, Finance and academic affairs to improve system functionality, streamline processes, and ensure compliance with higher ed-specific regulations. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, this role is instrumental in reducing manual efforts, improving data integrity, and providing technical support to HR system users.

Workday Configuration & Support:

  • Configure and maintain Workday HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Recruiting, Payroll, and Talent Management modules.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, resolve HRIS-related problems, and provide technical support to HR and other users.
  • Analyze, improve, and maintain Workday workflows, security roles, and integrations to enhance system efficiency.
  • Support Workday release updates, testing, and implementation of new features in collaboration with IT and functional teams.
  • Work with IT and external partners on advanced configuration needs and integration development.
  • Collaborate with HR and academic affairs to configure Workday processes specific to higher education, including: Faculty lifecycle management (e.g., tenure tracking, promotions), Adjunct faculty contracts and employment tracking, Sabbatical management and research funding allocations, and Student employee hiring and tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and higher ed HR regulations Data Management & Reporting.
  • Develop and maintain Workday reports and dashboards.

Project Management & Collaboration:

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define system needs, gather requirements, and recommend solutions.
  • Serve as a liaison between HR, IT, and other departments to support Workday initiatives.
  • Provide project management support for HR technology projects, ensuring timely and effective implementation.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of substantive hands-on Workday experience, particularly in HCM, Recruiting, Benefits, and Compensation.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in Workday configuration and troubleshooting system issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to nontechnical users.

Preferred:

  • Workday certifications (e.g., Workday Pro, Core HCM, Benefits, Payroll, or Integrations).
  • Experience with Workday integration partners and processes; experience in Workday Report Writer and calculated fields.
  • Prior experience in higher education HRIS or familiarity with faculty management, collective bargaining agreements, and grant-funded positions.
  • Knowledge of Workday Security roles, reporting, and business process design.

Position Details:
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. This position is a full-time position at 37.5 hours work week. This position is benefits eligible.
