Description

The United Firm | La Liga Defensora, APC is looking for a Workers’ Compensation Paralegal Assistant to join our growing legal team here in Los Angeles. You will report directly to the Legal Department Supervisor. You have a legal knowledge of Workers’ Comp-related laws and can make reasoned decisions. Candidates must have a client-service attitude with excellent case management skills. This Legal Assistant will participate in all aspects of our Workers’ Compensation practice, including assisting in the management of client relationships and case review, analysis, and preparation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 1-2 years of Workers’ Compensation Law experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
  • Excellent relationship building, process improvement, and communication skills are required
  • Previous experience as a paralegal or other legal field
  • Experience with AMEs, PQMEs, etc.
  • Experience with Case Management Software

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for daily interaction with clients, defense attorneys/adjusters and doctor offices
  • Manage attorney schedule efficiently (attorney-client meetings, court appearances, etc.)
  • Oversee status of cases through utilization of case management and billing systems. Run reports
  • Follow internal intake procedures after a client retains our firm
  • Enter and process all legal and medical mail, including AMEs, PQMEs, etc.
  • Prepare correspondence to opposing attorney, and/or insurance company
  • Ensure that clients are kept informed on the progress of their cases
  • Assist attorneys and other team members to manage caseload
  • Complete assignments and communicate case progress/status/issues to supervisors
