POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation State Reporting and Compliance Specialist to lead and coordinate state reporting initiatives related to workers’ compensation programs. This individual will manage multi-state compliance reporting, serve as the liaison between underwriting, claims, premium audit, IT, vendors, and regulatory stakeholders, and ensure timely, accurate submissions to state agencies.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Due to the nature of our business, and urgency of our clients’ needs, you may be required to participate in the Company’s on call program and work on holidays/weekends according to the on-call schedule.
Responsibilities

· Lead end to end state WC regulatory reporting projects, including WCPols, WC-Stat, Indemnity & Medical Data Calls
· Coordinate data collection, validation, issue resolution, and root-cause analysis with internal data teams and external partners.
· Identify automation opportunities to streamline reporting workflows and reduce manual errors.
· Ensure quality control through audits, validation routines, and vendor oversight.
· Write clear, actionable documentation on reporting standards and work processes.
· Develop dashboards and reports to communicate project status, risks, deliverables, and metrics to senior leadership and stakeholders.
· Manage project timeline, state fines, due date of fines, and owners of those fines internally or externally, and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
· Negotiate hours, contracts, and fines with vendors as necessary. Send appeals to state when necessary.
· Document standard operating procedures and process flows for reporting activities.
· Provide subject matter expertise on state workers’ compensation statutes, regulations, and filing procedures.
Required Qualifications
· 2+ years of project management experience in commercial insurance with excellent communication skills
· 2+ years of hand-on experience in Workers ‘ Compensation reporting (WCPols/WCStat) for an insurance carrier or TPA
· BA in Insurance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field.
· 5+ years of experience in workers’ compensation, commercial insurance underwriting, or regulatory compliance roles.
· Project management certification (PMP, SCRUM) preferred.
· Strong knowledge of multi-state workers’ compensation reporting requirements.
· Proficiency with Excel (advanced functions), project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet), and basic SQL or reporting tools.
