Description Job Type: Regular Full-Time Reports To: Workforce Deputy Director Job Summary The Urban League of Rochester seeks a Workforce Career Pathways Coordinator for Workforce Development programs. Programs provide GED preparation, classroom and hands-on construction training, personal development activities, and job placement assistance to disadvantaged out-of-school youth as well as under and unemployed individuals 17yr +.The Careers Pathways Coordinator supports Workforce Development participants through individualized coaching, job readiness instruction, and employment placement supports. The coordinator helps participants explore career pathways, develop workforce skills, and transition into employment, training programs or secondary education. The role focuses on participant guidance, employer engagement, and basic placement support. Job Responsibilities Provide individualized academic and vocational counseling and guide participants in developing individualized career pathways and pursue meaningful employment goals. Support recruitment, orientation, and onboarding of new participants. Assist participants with the transition into GED, credentialing programs, apprenticeships, or post-secondary education where applicable. Monitor attendance, engagement, and progress toward workforce readiness standards. Help participants identify interests, strengths, and realistic career paths based on assessment and program offerings. Provide ongoing follow up and retention support. Deliver job readiness workshops including resume development, interviewing skills, workplace professionalism, and soft skills. Support vocational training activities such as construction service projects and hands on learning experiences. Assist with preparing participants for interview and scheduling employer meetings. Build and maintain positive relationships with employers open to hiring program participants. Match participants with suitable job openings based on interests, readiness and employer needs. Assist with organizing hiring employer visits, hiring events, and career pathways information sessions. Completion of reports that track progress Attend Urban League of Rochester events and fund-raising functions representing the Workforce Division. Perform such other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor. Requirements Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, education, public administration, or related social science field preferred. At least two - year experience in a related area, including administrative and employment experience is preferred. Ability to relate to, communicate with, and work with a diverse population and understand the issues relating to such population. Ability to relate well with others, a team player with a positive can-do attitude. Needs to be assertive and have the ability to communicate effectively with trainees and company personnel. Competency with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. Must be customer service oriented. Must be able to tolerate and handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. Knowledge of available community resources a plus.
Responsibilities
The Workforce Career Pathways Coordinator provides individualized coaching and job readiness instruction to support participants in their career development. They also engage with employers to facilitate job placements and organize hiring events.
