Worley Canada Construction is seeking a Workforce (Talent) Development Advisor to join our People team, based in the Edmonton, Alberta office.
As a trusted business partner, the Advisor will develop relationships with business leaders at all levels in order to cultivate talent through talent development conversations to support succession planning, people development and overall organizational needs for both field and office based positions. This position will report to the People Director, Canada Construction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in adult education, business administration, human resources or a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of recent and related experience in talent development. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Advanced knowledge of leadership development, change management and organizational development.
  • Must be a highly effective verbal and written communicator and enjoy partnering and working effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • A clear interest and curiosity to develop thought leadership in the talent area alongside delivering effective local results and concrete change
  • Confident public speaker.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and adapt in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to build and maintain long term professional relationships.
  • Self motivated with the ability to self direct work to achieve positive organizational results.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Self-directed, able to identify, create and action multiple individual, departmental and organizational processes and projects while working in a collaborative and consultative way
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership and positively influence, partner with and coach others.
Responsibilities
  • Develop an overall talent development framework process for the Canada Construction organization to support succession planning, workforce planning and people development based on industry best practices. This will include supervisory and individual contributor roles in the office and the field.
  • Proactively collaborate, participate and engage with business leaders and personnel to identify and recommend solutions.
  • Facilitate successful completion of individual development plans (IDP’s) for identified talent, involving regular follow up meetings with the staff member, construction supervision or discipline manager as required to review progress of the IDP’s and facilitate completion of actions.
  • Support staff members in determining most suitable training for their development plans including internal and external providers as applicable.
  • Work with leaders to identify top talent in their departments and support and monitor their development for the next level of promotion and leadership.
  • Assist senior leadership with succession planning for key roles within their departments.
  • Liaise with local educational institutes, organizations and external training providers to build relationships and capacity for group training options.
  • Research and gather data regarding company-wide training requests.
  • Develop and establish a mentorship program for apprentices working on field projects.
  • Collaborate with managers to steward talent development program forward and find innovative solutions to meet the company’s talent objectives.
  • Must be flexible to travel to remote site locations and module yards as required.
  • Support other Human Resources or training and development activities as required.
