We are seeking an experienced and visionary Workforce Development Manager to lead a dynamic team responsible for driving workforce transformation across adult and children’s social care. This role sits within a strategic centre of excellence and reports to the Head of Practice Improvement and Partnerships. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building a sustainable and inclusive workforce, ensuring that staff are skilled, supported, and empowered to deliver outstanding care and support.

Responsibilities
  • Design, lead, and implement a contemporary and high-impact workforce development programme.
  • Oversee statutory programmes including ASYE, apprenticeships, student placements, and wider professional development across social care.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and commission solutions that are effective, inclusive, and aligned with organisational goals.
  • Ensure best practice in performance management, staff development, and talent retention.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, learning providers, universities, and partners to ensure access to high-quality training and placement support.
  • Represent the organisation at regional and national forums, sharing best practices and influencing sector-wide development.
  • Lead on procurement, commissioning, and contract management of training services in compliance with corporate regulations.
  • Produce strategic workforce reports and contribute to broader corporate workforce planning.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion through workforce planning and training provision.
