Description

At Only About Children (OAC), we’re passionate about delivering high-quality early learning experiences that shape young lives for the better. We know that achieving this relies on having the right people, in the right place, at the right time - and that’s where you come in.
We are seeking a Workforce Planning Lead to join our Workforce Planning & Deployment team. In this critical role, you will help shape how we plan, manage, and optimise our workforce across more than 80 early learning campuses. By ensuring labour is used effectively, you’ll directly support the quality of our programs, the sustainability of our operations, and the wellbeing of our teams.

YOUR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead and continuously improve rostering, staffing, and labour management practices, within campuses
  • Analyse data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for efficiency
  • Provide coaching to Campus Directors and Assistant Directors to build workforce planning capability
  • Monitor and manage casual and agency usage, ensuring alignment with budget
  • Contribute to strategic workforce initiatives with the Head of Workforce Optimisation
  • Act as an escalation point for same-day operational staffing challenges
  • Support scalable and sustainable labour models across a growing national network
Responsibilities

WHAT THIS ROLE IS ALL ABOUT

This is a strategic and hands-on position, providing leadership, planning oversight, and operational support to ensure:

  • Labour is aligned to budget and optimised across permanent, casual, and agency resources
  • Workforce planning tools, systems, and processes are embedded across all campuses
  • Efficient rosters are achieved through WFP skills development in campuses
  • Rosters are completed in advance, aligned to operational needs and compliance requirements
  • Stakeholders are empowered through coaching, collaboration, and workforce expertise

As a trusted advisor to our Campus Directors, Regional Operations Leaders, Finance, Talent Acquisition, and People & Culture teams, you will play a key role in aligning labour decisions and strategies with OAC’s broader strategic and financial goals.

YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE:

  • Experience in workforce planning/rostering skills and operational experience in ECEC, aged care, health, or similar distributed sectors
  • Strong data/analytics and workforce management system skills (e.g. Excel, HumanForce, ShiftMatch), and an understanding of award conditions
  • A collaborative, proactive mindset with the ability to influence, build trust and hold yourself and others to account.
  • Leadership experience and a willingness to lead by example
  • A solutions-focused approach - adaptable, resilient and results-oriented
  • A background in early childhood education (desirable), or strong alignment with its purpose and pace
  • The resilience to juggle competing priorities and flex between strategy, planning and day to day operations.
