Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Working Foreman / Forewoman, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of construction projects, combining hands-on trade skills with site-based leadership and coordination responsibilities. This role is ideal for a practical, experienced individual with strong communication and organisational skills who is confident in managing teams and maintaining site discipline and safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the key point of contact on-site, liaising regularly with clients, consultants and the internal Contracts Manager to ensure smooth communication and expectations are managed effectively.
  • Supervise and manage daily activities on site including direct labour and subcontractors, ensuring high standards of workmanship, productivity and site conduct.
  • Take ownership for the successful and timely delivery of assigned projects, including tracking progress against programme milestones and escalating delays or risks to the Contracts Manager as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and undertake hands-on construction tasks where required—ideally with a carpentry or multi-trade background.
  • Lead daily and weekly site briefings including health & safety toolbox talks, inductions, and review of RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
  • Manage materials efficiently, including taking deliveries, monitoring inventory, reordering as needed, and managing site equipment and tools.
  • Maintain strict control over site cleanliness, safety, and organisation at all times, in line with company and legal standards.
  • Read and interpret technical construction drawings and ensure all works are carried out accordingly.
  • Carry out quality control checks, compile snag lists, and oversee remedial and aftercare works as required to close out projects.
