At H2L/cropr we’re looking for a Working Student – AI Systems Engineer to join our team

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Help build the infrastructure behind our autonomous laser weeder. At H2L / cropr, we’re looking for a technically skilled and proactive working student who enjoys solving real-world challenges with Python, Linux and AI tooling. You’ll help keep our internal systems running smoothly – from model training pipelines to smart image syncing.
As a working student, you’ll support the AI engineer with developing and improving the internal systems that power our robot’s training and detection capabilities. That includes maintaining WOPR, our in-house model training machine, and building tools that automate repetitive tasks like image syncing, server setup, and pipeline execution. You’ll help ensure everything from data collection to model deployment runs smoothly — and recovers gracefully when things break. You’ll work independently, but with guidance where needed, and have the freedom to shape your own approach — as long as it works.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain and upgrade internal AI infrastructure (Linux, CUDA, drivers)
• Automate model compiling and deployment pipelines
• Develop smart daemons and sync tools for training images
• Improve robustness of systems (e.g. auto-reconnects, recovery)
• Support running inference servers for potato/weed detection
• Help design and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines for cropr
