Description
Are you a curious mind eager to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of data engineering, energy markets, and artificial intelligence? At Qmesa, we are currently building our Business Intelligence Platform from the ground up – this is true pioneer and greenfield work. We are looking for a committed team member who will become an integral part of this journey. The role requires a high degree of independent and self-driven work, as you will take ownership of tasks in a fast-evolving environment. We highly value proactive individuals who enjoy exploring new technologies and who are motivated to grow with us in a long-term collaboration. Tasks As a working student, you will play an important role in developing the backbone of our Business Intelligence Platform for risk models in the European power and gas markets. Specifically, you will: Design and set up a PostgreSQL database as a core component of the platform. Automate data imports from various sources (APIs, XML, CSV, etc.) at different frequencies (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly). Integrate our existing Python-based risk models into the BI workflow. Create and further develop Grafana dashboards to visualize results. Contribute to the design and implementation of an MCP (Model Context Protocol) setup to connect our platform with modern AI applications. Ensure data quality, consistency, and proper documentation. Collaborate closely with our quantitative analysts and consultants as a permanent part of the team. Requirements You are enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field. Proven, hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (or other SQL databases). Solid, practical knowledge of Python (e.g., pandas, numpy, API handling). Experience with dashboard creation (preferably with Grafana). Interest in European energy markets and risk analytics. Curiosity to learn about new standards such as MCP and enthusiasm for AI integration. Independent, structured, and reliable working style is essential. Strong communication skills in English (German or another European language is a plus). Benefits Weekly working time: 12–20 hours (flexible scheduling). A longer-term collaboration is explicitly desired. Work in a highly flexible, remote-friendly setup. Steep learning curve with real responsibility and exposure to cutting-edge energy market projects. Open-minded, supportive team that values new perspectives. Freedom to contribute your own ideas and experiment with new tools. Interested? Simply upload your CV. If you’d like, add a few sentences about why you want to work with us and what kind of work environment you are looking for.
