Responsibilities

The demand for high-speed communication links in mobile communication systems has significantly increased over the past years. Satellite telecom constellations can help to extent the connectivity even in the most remote places in the world. However, the quality of service can be affected, or jammed, due to the deliberate transmission of radio signals that disrupt, degrade, or block communication channels. We would like to study means for preventing this interference using Artificial Intelligence. Your task will be to evaluate and optimize ML algorithms, for further integration into a SoC platform. Afterwards, you will support a demonstrator setup, where the algorithms can be tested with generated data in a simulated communication channel. You will run the test plan for verification and validation of the ML models. As part of your learning process, you will also be encouraged to enhance the proposed ML models with a different approach.

  • Understand the workflow of satellite telecommunications, and the affection of the service due to jamming
  • Propose a working pipeline on how the ML models can identify, classify and mitigate a jamming attack
  • Assess and prune the ML models for proper deployment into the SoC
  • Implement the proposed pipeline in the Demonstrator
  • Run the Test Plan for assessing the deployed models
  • Goal: Assess the performance of AI-based solutions for detecting and mitigating jamming for future on-board satellite processing
