This position is part of Novanta’s World of Medicine (WOM) business unit. Specialized in the field of Minimally Invasive Medicine, WOM develops devices and accessories so that doctors can operate with small cuts. We produce Cameras, Insufflators, Medical Pumps, and tubing that makes diagnosis and treatment easier for everyone. Our insufflators and pump systems dilate cavities in the body and turn previously complicated surgeries into minor procedures. Together with customers, doctors, and technical experts, our teams continuously search for new ways to innovate.
Summary
The working student will support the NPI Disposable team with day-to-day tasks related to the development of NPI projects and the Disposable platform specification. In addition, the role includes contributing to pre-development activities and system verification tasks in collaboration with the Advanced Engineering and System Verification departments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Verification Report Analysis:Review and summarize verification reports to support the creation of Novanta requirement standards for disposable products.
  • Cross-Functional Team Support:Provide day-to-day assistance to the NPI Disposable team and contribute to ongoing development activities.
  • Advanced Engineering Collaboration:Participate in pre-studies and feasibility assessments in collaboration with the Advanced Engineering team.
  • System Verification Testing:Assist in executing and documenting a variety of functional and safety tests, including:
  • Transportation safety tests, functional performance tests, tensile strength tests, shelf-life evaluations, air bubble leak tests,Accurate documentation of all test results in English
  • Root Cause Analysis:Support investigations into test failures and contribute to identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Project-Based Support:Provide hands-on support for tube set projects and other initiatives within the NPI Disposable and System Verification Department.

General Tasks

  • Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations.
  • Implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management representative and the occupational safety specialist.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Batchelor or Master student of Engineering or natural science
  • Very good English skills
