This position is part of Novanta’s World of Medicine (WOM) business unit. Specialized in the field of Minimally Invasive Medicine, WOM develops devices and accessories so that doctors can operate with small cuts. We produce Cameras, Insufflators, Medical Pumps, and tubing that makes diagnosis and treatment easier for everyone. Our insufflators and pump systems dilate cavities in the body and turn previously complicated surgeries into minor procedures. Together with customers, doctors, and technical experts, our teams continuously search for new ways to innovate.
Job Summary
As a working student in our system test and verification team, your primary role is to support our T&V team in the testing of tubsets and devices. You will collaborate closely with team members to execute test cases, document results, and identify defects while ensuring the proper selection and usage of calibrated equipment. It’s an excellent opportunity for students currently enrolled in relevant undergraduate or graduate programs. Your attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to precision will be essential in contributing to the team’s testing objectives. This position offers a valuable learning experience in testing methodologies and quality assurance practices, with an opportunity to work closely with last trend in the medical field.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the NPI & T&V team to understand testing requirements and goals.
  • Assist in setting up test environments and equipment for tubset and device testing.
  • Execute test cases and document test results accurately.
  • Identify and report defects, inconsistencies, or anomalies in test outcomes.
  • Participate in test planning and strategy discussions.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of test documentation.
  • Support the development of automated test scripts or tools, as needed.
  • Follow established testing processes and best practices.
  • Work closely with team members to ensure testing objectives are met.
  • Maintain a clean and organized testing workspace.
  • Learn and adapt to new testing methodologies and technologies.
  • Seek guidance and ask questions to improve testing skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards throughout the testing process.
  • Communicate effectively within the team and provide status updates.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving during testing.
  • Attend team meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Comply with company policies and guidelines.
  • Familiarize oneself with equipment operation manuals and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure proper selection and usage of calibrated equipment for testing purposes.

Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies

Experience:

  • No prior work experience is required; this position is open to students and entry-level candidates.
  • Experience with testing, quality assurance, or a related field is a plus but not mandatory.

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., engineering, computer science, or a related field).

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to precision in all testing activities.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Basic understanding of testing concepts and methodologies.
  • Willingness and eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with testing tools or programming languages (e.g.,C#, Labview) is a plus but not required.
  • Compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and test procedures.
  • Time management skills to meet testing deadlines and objectives.
  • Good English and German skills
