We are currently seeking a dedicated Workplace Health & Safety Advisor to join our team at our Minchinbury, NSW site. Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, Wellness & Compliance in Melbourne, you will play a key role in promoting a proactive and engaged safety culture across our operations.

  • Champion and embed a positive safety culture aligned with our national safety initiatives.
  • Partner with operational leaders to embed ownership of safety across the business, acting as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert.
  • Ensure consistent application of health & safety strategies and performance outcomes across all operational sites.
  • Deliver and support the rollout of corporate WHS standards through training, coaching, and awareness initiatives.
  • Analyse data from leading and lagging indicators, audits, and safety culture surveys to implement forward-thinking safety strategies.
  • Support site managers in risk identification, incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action implementation.
  • Conduct and facilitate safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments in line with safety management system requirements.
  • Collaborate with fleet managers to ensure driver compliance with fatigue, mass, and maintenance obligations under NHVR and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) regulations.
  • Lead or participate in safety investigations and contribute to ongoing improvements based on findings.
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders during serious incidents and safety reviews.
  • Assist with internal and external audits and regulatory frameworks such as ISO 45001, NHVAS, ONRSR, and HACCP.
  • Contribute to strategic reviews and ensure local alignment with national safety goals.
  • Liaise with the Senior Rail Safety Advisor and assist with maintaining and improving our Safety Management System (SMS).

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related field (Diploma or above preferred)
  • Experience in WHS advisory roles, ideally within the rail, logistics or transport industries.
  • Knowledge of Rail Safety National Law, ONSR regulations, and heavy vehicle compliance (NHVR, CoR)
  • ICAM investigation training (desirable)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence outcomes and build positive relationships at all levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems
  • Flexibility to support 24/7 operations and visit multiple sites when required
  • High attention to detail and the ability to juggle competing safety priorities effectively
