JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an organised and efficient Workshop Assistant / Laboratory Technician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our Senior Lab Technician and ensuring quality control within our laboratory environment. This position requires a person who can learn new skills quickly and works well as part of a team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Some workshop or Metallurgical Laboratory experience is preferred, but not essential.
  • Prior use of industrial saws, grinders and milling machines would be advantageous.
  • Experience with quality control processes within a laboratory setting is desirable.
  • Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A passion for precision and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy in all tasks performed.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing test samples for laboratory tests, adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure test pieces are received correctly through our goods in system and labelled and separated, to ensure impartiality and correct reporting of results.
  • Perform quality control checks on samples and equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of laboratory materials and reagents for various tests.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the team to meet customer deadlines and offer ideas for improvement of processes.
  • Maintain a clean and organised Workshop and laboratory environment, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
