JOB SUMMARY

A Workshop supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the workshop and service department to support the Service Manager. They manage workshop staff, coordinate the maintenance and repairs of equipment and machinery, and ensure that operations run smoothly.

Responsibilities
  • To help create a culture of honesty and accountability through the department.
  • To take an empathetic approach to managing and communicating with all members of staff within your own department and others.
  • To liaise with customers to ensure they are kept up to date with the progression of service work
  • To comply with Health and Safety responsibilities within this role, as outlined in the Health and Safety Manual
  • Perform weekend work or on call standby on a rota basis.
  • Support the service manager in the day to day running of the service department.
  • The main aspect to the role is job scheduling. Ensure all technicians are kept busy to aid productivity at all times. Ensure all booked jobs are allocated and repaired in good time both on and off site.
  • Provide guidance advice and technical support to technicians.
  • Review job card write ups, parts, pictures etc before submitting for invoice.
  • Make and receive phone calls to / from customers as required.
  • Ensure technician time keeping is kept at a good standard.
  • Support THD requests for the workshop and field technicians alongside the foreman is not available.
  • Monitor parts on order, liaise with parts and chase up with parts any outstanding orders updating customers as required.
  • Ensure the workshop is kept to a high standard of cleanliness and organisation including special tool management, lifting and safety equipment.
  • Provide cover to the office when the service manager is unavailable
  • Assist with supplier Service Bulletins, PIPs, Campaigns
  • Answer incoming calls alongside the service admin and action as required
  • Promote the company’s Service department, to ensure customer loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in both workshop and on site.
  • Perform weekend work or on call standby on a rota basis.
  • Gain knowledge of all machinery and their operations including GPS systems.
  • Willingness to work seasonal / unsociable hours during busy periods.
  • To use the necessary in-house communications systems including e-mail and telephones etc. to ensure prompt and effective responses to customers, Farmstar Ltd employees, and external organisations.
  • Help to train new apprentices and service employees in company procedures.
  • Attend training provided by various manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Use manufacturer IT and support systems to escalate problems via online systems such as Assist, THD’s and e-tim.
  • Maintaining a strong working knowledge of industry regulations, restrictions, and laws, ensuring the company’s adherence to these regulations, and remaining current on the industry’s standards and new innovations, materials, tools, and processes.
