ABOUT US:

Pelican Engineering is a full MAN / DAF / YUTONG Truck and Bus dealership supporting truck and bus operators throughout Yorkshire and the North of England. We operate from purpose-built premises in South Leeds just off Junction 31, M62.
We are looking for an experienced WORKSHOP CONTROLLER preferably with a HGV background or with an automotive or transport related background.

Essential skills required:·

  • Previous experience in the HGV motor trade
  • The ability to work on your own initiative as well as manage a team of technicians.
  • The ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and specifications etc.
  • Write short correspondence and emails professionally.
  • Great customer service skills and professionalism.
  • The ability to work to deadlines and time manage efficiency.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff, management, and outside agencies including the communication of complex information.
  • Self-disciplined with the ability to control your own workload.
  • Microsoft Office skills including Excel.
  • Level C or equivalent in Math and English
  • A knowledge of transport legislation
  • Technical knowledge of vehicle part
Responsibilities

Working in a professional and efficient manner working with our Service Manager:

  • Working with a Workshop Manager in controlling a Team of Commercial Vehicle Technicians, Commercial Vehicle Apprentices and Service / Warranty Administrators.
  • Monitoring and planning productivity.
  • Ensuring all paperwork is accurate and kept up to date.
  • Creating and maintaining the relationship between Service reception and Workshop to ensure efficient vehicle turnaround.
  • Keeping up to date with all manufacturer’s bulletins and information.
  • Dealing with customer queries.
  • Dealing with Service Department issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Manage workshop labour to achieve all specified maintenance timeframes, standards, and objectives.
  • Ensure all servicing, repairs, warranty works and breakdowns are carried out to appropriate standard and in within acceptable timescales.
  • Liaise with customers, parts department, other departments.
  • Maintain appropriate stock holding levels for spares, sundries, fuels and lubricants etc.
  • Liaise with external parts and service providers when required
