DAWSON MINE

Steelmaking Coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.
Dawson Mine, located near the town of Moura and a 2 hour drive from Rockhampton and Gladstone. It is a large and dynamic open cut steelmaking coal mine operation made up of two operating pits - Central and South. It commenced operations in 1961 and is one of the oldest coal mining operations in Central Queensland with no signs of slowing down. Dawson Mine is rich in history, it was the first mine in Australia to export coal to Japan in 1961 and was the first mine to introduce draglines into its operation in 1963 – join the legacy today!
Job Description
We are currently seeking experienced Diesel Fitters at our Dawson Mine in Moura, QLD.
We have various opportunities across our operation located in the Bowen Basin region on a large-scale mining operation, Dawson Mine, Moura QLD.

To be successful in this role you will ensure compliance with all safety and operating systems and have a commitment to working together as part of a team to achieve business objectives.

  • Ensure that plant and equipment is maintained to a high level
  • Experience on Mobile Equipment (Trucks, Graders, Dozer, Loaders etc.)
  • Undertake troubleshooting, fault finding, breakdown and preventative maintenance on Heavy Mobile Equipment
  • Achieve performance performance targets in compliance with statutory, safety, health, budget and environmental requirements
  • Knowledge of SAP and Auto Electrical experience is not essential but highly desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification
  • Hold a current Australian Manual Drivers Licence
  • Minimum of C Class Manual Drivers Licence
  • Experience with safety management systems
  • Experience within a mining Field Maintenance Operations
  • HIAB, EWP, Forklift, Dogging and Rigging Certificates (desirable)
