Description
A little about the role ...  The Workshop Manager is the operational backbone of CTC's workshop floor. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day readiness of our shared workshop - planning how space is used across concurrent projects, keeping tools and plant maintained and fit for purpose, managing materials flow, and making sure safety practices are lived on the floor, not just documented.  This is a genuinely hands-on management role. You'll be physically present and actively involved - not just coordinating from the sidelines, or directing others to complete work. You'll translate upcoming production schedules into practical workshop set-ups, troubleshoot logistical challenges as builds evolve, and continuously improve how the space works for everyone who uses it.  This role has no direct reports and depends on teamwork, clear communication, and visibility on the floor. It reports to Production and collaborates closely with the heads of Sculptural and Engineering Fabrication.  This position is ideal for someone with excellent communication and listening abilities, who enjoys collaborating with a diverse team to achieve the best possible outcome. Achieving success means maximising workshop efficiency, minimising downtime and waist, and making sure your skilled coworkers have everything necessary to work safely and effectively.  You could be the one if you have...  * A trade background or equivalent practical experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment * Demonstrated experience coordinating shared workshop spaces, equipment, or infrastructure * Hands-on capability with a wide range of hand tools and workshop equipment * Practical understanding of rigging, lifting, and mechanical assembly * Strong awareness of workshop safety risks, controls, and safe work practices * Experience implementing consumables tracking and routine operational checks * Ability to coordinate resources across multiple teams with competing priorities * Clear, direct communication skills: you keep people informed and work through problems collaboratively   Nice to have  * Forklift license and/or EWP license(preferred) * Rigging license * Experience working in a production or entertainment fabrication environment What you’ll do...    * Plan and configure shared workshop spaces to support multiple concurrent builds, adapting layouts as project needs shift * Oversee tools, plant, gantries, and shared infrastructure:coordinating servicing, maintenance, and repairs to keep everything safe and operational * Manage incoming and outgoing goods, set-up areas, and internal logistics in collaboration with the Inventory Coordinator * Maintain and develop workshop and deep storage systems, including racking, inventory, and practical retrieval processes * Stay closely connected with the Production team to translate upcoming schedules into practical workshop readiness * Support mechanical assembly, rigging, and lifting activities, and coordinate shared infrastructure use during build phases * Monitor consumables and shared machine requirements using kanban-style tracking systems, and coordinate with purchasing to maintain supply * Provide day-to-day OHS leadership - supporting inductions, reinforcing safe work practices, contributing to SWMSs, and responding to hazards in real time * Contribute practically to workshop layout improvements, infrastructure upgrades, and facilities works Why CTC?  CTC are award-winning global leaders in creating awe-inspiring creatures that captivate the imagination of visitors at some of the world’s most exciting visitor attractions, including Universal Parks in Orlando and Beijing, as well as ground-breaking theatre productions.
