DESIGNATION : Workshop Technician

QUALIFICATIONS

  • NITEC / Higher NITEC / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
  • Proven experience as a technician in a construction or heavy equipment workshop environment.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Physically fit and able to work in a hands-on workshop environment.
  • Basic computer literacy (for maintenance logging and communication).
  • Team player with strong communication and time-management skills.
  • Preferably possess a valid Class 3 license.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Workshop Technician plays a vital role in maintaining, servicing, and repairing construction machinery, equipment, and tools used in our underground utilities and road works projects. The role ensures all workshop operations support site demands efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and supporting project timelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on construction machinery and mechanical equipment (e.g. excavators, breakers, pipe-laying equipment, generators).
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system issues and perform necessary corrective actions.
  • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, equipment logs, and documentation in accordance with company policies.
  • Collaborate with the site and operations teams to prioritize equipment readiness based on project needs.
  • Support the assembly, testing, and calibration of new or modified equipment before deployment.
  • Ensure proper tools, spare parts, and consumables are available and well-managed in the workshop.
  • Adhere strictly to safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and maintenance of a clean working environment.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of workshop procedures and maintenance schedules.
  • Provide emergency repair support for on-site breakdowns when required.
  • Perform other duties or tasks as assigned by the immediate superior or Head of Department.
