JOB SUMMARY

The Government Car Service provides vehicles and drivers to multiple Government Departments and Ministers. Operating with 90 drivers and fully operational workshops GCS is based in London SE1 and is a self contained organisation operating within the Government Security Group.
These are exciting times for GCS with large changes to the service envisaged and this is a fantastic opportunity to take on a role working at the heart of Government, at times working directly with Government Ministers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting into the Head of Operations, this role manages the GCS workshops and its staff. The workshops maintain, repair and MOT the large GCS fleet of vehicles including large numbers of electric vehicles. You will be dealing with various bespoke vehicle management programmes, for which full training will be given, vehicle disposals and the management of the MOT facility.
There is an element of invoice creation and payment recording within the role.
You will assist senior management and operations in responding to various FOI requests and Parliamentary questions.
You will work with the Operations and Contracts Manager on supply contract for various vehicle and workshop spares and consumables.

  • Financial responsibility for workshop operations, liaising with wider CO finance team;
  • Monthly reporting;
  • Management of fuel cards;
  • Purchasing and supply contracts;
