This includes on-site housing for foster youth who need a stable living environment in order for them to excel academically. JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Wrestling Coach, 7th-8th Grade Employment Classification: Part-Time; Non-Exempt; Hourly, Classified Reports to: Athletic Director Position Summary: Samueli Academy is looking for a coach to develop a wrestling program on campus. The Wrestling Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a developing program. The Wrestling Coach is to be an exemplary role model for the athletes, school, and community. The successful candidate shall recognize that the purpose of athletics is to promote the physical, mental, moral, and emotional well-being of the individual athlete. Requirements Major Areas of Responsibility: Supervision and development of the Wrestling program. General upkeep of equipment and facilities associated with the program. Schedule practices during the regular season and off-season as needed. Transport students to and from competitions and practices in Academy owned vehicles. Report any developments in the program, including complaints or grievances, to the Athletic Director in a timely manner. Report any unsafe conditions to the Athletic Director and Facilities Manager. Coordinate with the Athletic Director to monitor the scholastic eligibility and conduct of athletes. Responsible for safety and security of the team before, during, and after program events. Serve as a positive role model for student athletes. Additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor. Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Experience in playing the sport of application in Organized Community, High School, Collegiate, Professional setting OR experience in coaching the sport of application. Valid CPR and First Aid certification required. Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport, the CIF, and the standards of ethical conduct of interscholastic athletic team programs. Ability to work and maintain positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues. Ability to organize, train, direct, and motivate students to achieve high levels of athletic competition. All coaches will be required to complete mandatory training (including Concussion Awareness, Heat Illness Prevention in Student Athletes, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Athletes). Training may be waived if proof of valid equivalent training is provided. Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance. Pre-employment screenings include criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, drug screen, and previous employment verification Essential Qualities: Understanding of and passion for the Academy’s mission, vision, values. Working Environment/Physical Requirements: The coach needs to be able to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the athletes. A coach needs to be able to visually monitor athletes. Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (moving equipment/boxes up to 50 lbs), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, may be required.
