Description Under general supervision of a Research Scientist 1 or other supervisory official in a state department, institution, or agency, conducts research projects or participates in functional programs in a specified professional field; assumes appropriate administrative and scientific duties as delegated; heads complex projects and makes recommendations to the supervisor; does related work. Specific to Position Position 1: This position will design, coordinate, and implement specialized hydrogeologic (hydro) research, which include submitting proposals and recommendations for hydro research in compliance with appropriate methodology and techniques; review and analyze publications/documents related to hydro research developments and disseminate information to staff; direct the control and maintenance of hydro supplies and equipment to ensure availability for research projects; prepare hydro reports relating to research activities including findings, conclusions, and recommendations; verify hydro testing results, examinations and analyses made by staff; act as a scientific consultant in area of hydrogeology; act as a liaison with state, federal , academic and others to resolve hydro issues; and maintain hydro records and database. Position 2: This position will design and oversee groundwater quality studies and monitoring networks and collaborating with inter-program and inter-agency groups. Additional duties include analyzing data, drawing conclusions, disseminating findings through reports and presentations, developing and reviewing SOPs and Quality Assurance Plans, as well as offering technical expertise. This position will also investigate climate change, geogenic, anthropogenic, and emerging contaminates impacts to groundwater, handling databases, assisting with maintaining OQA laboratory certification, enhancing project objectives, recommending new technologies, and utilizing Python, MATLAB, and other software to achieve project goals. Requirements EDUCATION Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position. EXPERIENCE Three (3) years of full-time experience in a field appropriate to the position. NOTE: A Doctorate in a discipline appropriate to the position may be substituted for two (2) years of experience indicated above. NOTE: All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting.
