Description TITLE: LINE MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION: The purpose of this classification is to lead, direct, and control sewer repair and upgrade operations for the City of Madisonville. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Coordinates repairs with the Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendent. To lead and direct the crew's work safely and efficiently, and ensure equipment is properly maintained. Ability to read maps, mark areas for one dig calls (BUD); the ability to make service calls; guide customers regarding current sewer standards, and inform the Superintendent of progress or problems. Prepares work orders and daily labor log accounting for time, materials, and effectiveness. To follow repair schedules, dirt work, asphalt, and concrete repair, assist with lift stations as needed and safety programs. Performs daily maintenance on equipment, including oil levels, greasing equipment, coolant levels, and any other maintenance required. Perform Pre-Trip and Maintenance inspections on equipment and coordinate with the Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendent to schedule required maintenance and/or repairs. Works closely with crews and the public, conducts oneself acceptably in accordance with City personnel Policy. Provides information as requested; responds to radio communications. Knowledge of construction excavation techniques and safety requirements. Maintains equipment, including vehicles, levels, electrical testing equipment, etc. Stays abreast of and adheres to City policies and ordinances. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: Works alternative shifts, including weekends, holidays, off hours, and overtime as needed Analyze problems and find solutions Assist with Lift Station Repairs Safety Committee Duties as required Performs general housekeeping duties Assists in disaster/emergency plan and procedures. Performs other related duties as required to solve customer complaints and provide emergency services. Ability to make permit-required confined space entries Ability to learn and adapt to procedures and/or circumstances Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in Wastewater Collection Systems; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky commercial driver’s license with endorsements as required (Class B with Air Brakes Minimum). Forklift, Flagger, Work Zone Traffic Control Technician, CPR, and First Aid Certification
