Description The X-Ray Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. This role ensures high-quality imaging while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and compliance with all regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations according to physician orders and established protocols Position patients correctly to obtain accurate and high-quality images Explain procedures to patients and address questions or concerns Ensure radiation safety by following ALARA principles and proper shielding techniques Operate and maintain radiographic equipment; report malfunctions as needed Review images for technical quality and accuracy prior to submission Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the medical record system Comply with all federal, state, and organizational regulations, including HIPAA Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare staff to ensure continuity of care Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment Requirements Associate’s degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program Current ARRT certification required Active state radiologic technologist license (as applicable) BLS/CPR certification required Strong knowledge of radiographic procedures, anatomy, and radiation safety Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications Prior clinical experience in a healthcare or outpatient setting Experience with digital radiography (DR) systems Familiarity with EHR and PACS systems Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift, move, and position patients and equipment Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to operate imaging equipment Work Environment Clinical or outpatient healthcare setting May require evenings, weekends, or on-call coverage depending on operational needs
