Are you looking for a dynamic and rewarding role that allows you to make a difference in multiple program areas? The Greater Burlington YMCA is seeking a Y Program Staff Member to provide essential support to the School Age Department while also contributing to another YMCA program. This full-time role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children, fostering relationships, and creating positive experiences in a variety of settings.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Support YMCA Programs: Work at least 25 hours per week in the School Age Department, with an additional 5-12 hours in another Y program.
  • Supervise & Engage: Ensure the safety and well-being of program participants while fostering a fun and welcoming environment.
  • Plan & Execute Activities: Contribute creative input to program planning and support staff in delivering engaging experiences.
  • Maintain Safety & Cleanliness: Ensure program spaces are organized, well-maintained, and aligned with YMCA standards.
  • Communicate & Collaborate: Work closely with staff, participants, and families while upholding the Y’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • Track & Report: Accurately log work hours.
  • Adapt & Be Flexible: Support various program needs, including vacation camps and substituting at other sites as needed.

AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM DIRECT SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise children ages 5-12, ensuring a safe and enriching environment.
  • Take attendance, perform head counts, and follow emergency procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with parents, staff, and children.
  • Address any concerns through the Site Director before discussing with families.
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and engaging atmosphere.
    Requirements:

What We’re Looking For:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Access to reliable transportation for consistent attendance.
  • Strong leadership skills and a positive attitude when working with children.
  • Ability to use positive reinforcement, problem-solving, and team-building techniques.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to complete all necessary training before starting.
