Description OBJECTIVE The Yard Associate I is responsible for receiving, stocking, and preparing inventory for shipment. This entry-level role involves loading and unloading trucks (both company and customer vehicles), building loads for delivery, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient lumberyard. As a key point of customer interaction, this position plays a vital role in providing excellent customer service. The role also requires the safe operation of a forklift and other yard equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Operate all equipment and perform duties in compliance with safety policies and procedures. Receive incoming materials, verify accuracy, and record inventory. Stock materials in appropriate storage areas, ensuring proper organization. Assist with pulling, preparing, and loading customer and delivery orders. Provide outstanding customer service, including resolving minor issues on-site. Maintain cleanliness and organization in yard, bays, and staging areas. Support inventory control efforts, including cycle counts and stock rotation. Operate forklifts and other equipment, including banders, power tools, and saws, as needed. Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers. Follow and improve upon existing operational procedures. Participate in required training and development programs. Perform general maintenance, landscaping, and housekeeping duties. Assist with walk-in and pick-up customer orders, ensuring accurate fulfillment. Other tasks as assigned by management. SKILLS & ABILITIES Basic computer literacy. Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms. Ability to use power tools safely; experience making basic cuts is a plus. Ability and or willingness to learn tape measure reading and other measurement tools. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Customer-focused with the ability to recognize and resolve issues effectively. Capable of handling a fast-paced and physically demanding work environment. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED required. OSHA-certified forklift license preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at times. Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant. BENEFITS Available to all Full-Time employees.
