Prospect Construction is a Heavy Civil Contractor that specializes in water and wastewater treatment plants, hydraulic structures/facilities, shoring systems, large concrete tanks, pump stations/process facilities, dewatering, major excavations, structural steel, process equipment, and mechanical systems.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a dependable and safety-minded Class A CDL Driver / Yard Associate to join our team. This role combines driving responsibilities with hands-on yard support. The ideal candidate will have experience transporting and securing construction equipment and materials, including oversize and overweight loads, with the ability to travel across state lines while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
  • Must maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT physical).
  • Must pass all DOT-required drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion).
  • Experience transporting, loading, and unloading construction equipment (including oversize/overweight).
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations, including hours-of-service, inspections, and permits.
  • Ability to properly secure loads and operate in compliance with safety standards.
  • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel regionally and across state lines as needed.
  • Forklift or heavy equipment operating experience (certification a plus).
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate Class A CDL vehicles to transport construction equipment, tools, and materials to and from job sites.
  • Load and unload various construction equipment, including oversize and overweight loads, using appropriate safety procedures.
  • Properly secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and other required methods.
  • Transport equipment and materials across state lines in compliance with all DOT and state regulations.
  • Perform accurate pre- and post-trip inspections on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain driver logs, mileage reports, fuel receipts, and trip documentation as required by DOT and the Prospect Construction.
  • Obtain and manage oversize/overweight permits and trip permits when required.
  • Plan routes to ensure timely delivery while accounting for weight limits, clearances, and state-specific restrictions.
  • Safely operate vehicles in all weather, road, and traffic conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with Superintendents, and jobsite personnel regarding delivery schedules.
  • Assist with yard operations, including staging, fueling, cleaning, and organizing equipment and materials.
  • Operate forklifts, loaders, and other yard equipment as needed.
  • Provide support to field crews with equipment delivery, logistics, and material preparation.
  • Perform vehicle and equipment maintenance; report any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Uphold company safety policies and promote a safe work environment at all times.
