SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Diesel Fitting/Plant i.e. City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent, OR have previous experience and knowledge of generators or large diesel engines.
  • Full Driving Licence Essential (with towing categories preferred)
  • Forklift Truck Licence advantageous but not essential as training can be given.
  • Previous experience of working in a workshop environment advantageous.
  • Holder of ECS/CSCS/CPCS card preferred but not essential, as training could be given.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Have a flexible approach to work as the needs of the business dictate.
Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

You will support the Depot Foreman and the South East depot team in the preparation, testing and repair of generator sets. This is mainly a yard-based role; however, there will be occasions where you will need to attend customer sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for service, maintenance and overall upkeep and appearance of generators (15 kVA and above) for the Rental fleet.
  • Ensure manufacturers’ recommended service schedules are followed.
  • Provide general assistance in the yard, including loading & offloading equipment.
  • Drive forklift in yard as required.
  • Re-book into stock all generators.
  • Carry out servicing and repairs to Power Electrics equipment off site as and when required.
  • Synchronise generators on site as required.
  • As part of your required duties, and subject to satisfactory training, you will be expected to join our engineers’ call out rota (currently 1 week in 4, but frequency may change in future depending on business needs).
  • Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy. This includes company vehicles.
  • Comply with all aspects of the company’s quality, environment, health & safety and energy management standards (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 50001:2018 respectively), proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme.
