Description Reports to: Shipping & Receiving Supervisor Supervises: None Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly Purpose of Position: The Yard Jockey Associate has primary responsibility for moving, staging, and positioning trailers and equipment within the yard to ensure smooth workflow, on-time production, and a safe environment for our team. Essential Skills: Prioritizes tasks based on importance and urgency. Manages time effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines. Identifies problems, analyzes solutions, and implements the best course of action. Organizes tasks, projects, and resources effectively. Clearly and effectively conveys information, both verbally and in writing. Essential Characteristics: Works proactively without supervision. Maintains high standards of conduct and performance. Essential Duties: Safely move, spot, and dock trailers and equipment within the facility yard according to schedules and operational needs. Transport trailers between the New Holland and Lebanon locations. Ensure trailers are correctly positioned for loading, unloading, and production flow. Perform pre- and post-move inspections of yard trucks, trailers, and equipment; promptly report any safety or maintenance concerns. Communicate clearly to coordinate trailer movements and minimize downtime. Maintain orderly, organized, and clearly marked yard areas to support efficient operations. Follow all safety procedures, biosecurity protocols, SOPs, and SQF requirements at all times. Assist with basic yard organization, cleanup, and support tasks as needed to keep operations running smoothly. Other duties as assigned by the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor Work Schedule: Typical hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM Two 10-minute paid breaks and a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Requirements Completion of general safety and basic food safety training (provided by WEF). Training in electric pallet jack and forklift operation (provided by WEF). Steel-toed or composite toe shoes required (WEF provides a shoe compensation plan) Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain if required. Prior experience as a yard jockey, yard driver, or similar role preferred. Strong understanding of safe equipment operation and yard safety practices. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently when needed. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to climb in and out of yard trucks and trailers repeatedly. Ability to sit for extended periods and operate equipment safely. Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds as needed. The employee is occasionally required to walk, to climb stairs and ladders, use hand to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee is regularly required to move about the facility. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to seek assistance in the lifting of more than 50 pounds or use a crane or hoists. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
