Description POSITION SUMMARY: The Yard Laborer position will be responsible for torching larger pieces of metal, moving materials and purchasing scrap from walk-in customers. REPORTS TO: Yard Manager SUPERVISES: N/A ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Torching large pieces of Metal Assisting customers. Unloading customer’s items. Identifying materials (prepared and unprepared). Purchasing items at correct price. Regular and timely attendance are an expectation of the position. Follow the 5S foundations for deploying lean production tools and processes. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma preferred but not required. COMPETENCIES: Self-starter that takes initiative along with analytical skills Strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills Ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Requirements PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Physical Activity: Talking, hearing, repetitive motion, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, and climbing stairs. Physical Requirements: Exerting up to one hundred (100) pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to fifty (50) pounds of force frequently, and/or up to twenty (20) pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual Acuity: ability to operate machinery and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned including making general observations of facilities.
