Description Yard Manager JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY The Yard Manager is responsible for managing daily activities and implementing best practices by developing processes across the location. The key fundamentals of this role include formulating strategy, improving performance, managing resources, and ensuring compliance. This is a leadership role that will mentor team members, increase customer service and operation effeciancy. The successful candidate will possess a depth of experience that helps excel in the areas of compliance, efficiency, and profitability in a cross-functional approach to business growth. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES Manage all day-to-day operations of assigned yard including team member relations, customer relations, and achieving operational goals Implement new directives for growth Build effective relationships with upper management and support team members Achieve revenue goals by effectively leading team members, team productivity and asset protection Ensure successful execution of operational standards, in compliance with state and federal laws, and established company policies and procedures Maintain oversight of overall facility and team member hours daily and weekly in order to make effective staffing recommendations Monitor production KPIs Promoting a collaborative team environment by daily team huddles and continuous one on ones with each team member Analyze, practice performance, train, and supervise team members Manage inventory, drive efficiencies to increase customer experience Improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices by assisting in the creation of business processes, SOP’s, and JSA’s Lead strategic financial and operational objectives to improve profitability of the yard Open/Close yard per company policy Check In and Check Out with your team daily. Effective housekeeping of facility Mandatory attendance at your location’s quarterly event, ideally attend every quarterly event. Mandatory attendance at the semi-annual team events. Attend, participate, and host weekly professional development and leadership training. Set the pace for your team that aligns with the cultural expectations. Attend and participate in internal meetings and complete required training. Requirements KEY COMPETENCIES Proven work experience in a similar role in the recycling industry Knowledge of the ferrous and non-ferrous metals Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management Familiarity with business and financial principles Ability to inspire, influence, and coach teams to success Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain professionalism in difficult and stressful situations EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 Years of Leadership or Management Experience Bachelor’s Degree, preferred 3 Years of Recycle Processing Experience Heavy Equipment Experience, preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces Ability to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 25 pounds Frequently climb up and down ladders; crouch and bend at the knee; stoop or bend at the waist; reach arms overhead; and twist and turn at the neck and trunk Continually handle and grasp levers and dials; continuous leg and foot motion when using pedals Work environment involves frequent and/or regular exposure to natural and unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises Ability to spend prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer
