JOB SUMMARY

The Yard Operative will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficient operation of the yard. This position involves handling and preparing materials, ensuring the yard is organised and clean, and assisting with the loading and unloading of vans. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.

  • Material Handling: Receive, store, and organise materials and products in the yard. Prepare materials such as gates and panels, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload materials from vehicles, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with stock control, including counting and recording inventory levels. Report discrepancies and assist with stock takes as needed.
  • Yard Maintenance: Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe yard environment. Dispose of waste materials properly and ensure tools and equipment are stored correctly.
  • Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Identify and report potential hazards.
  • Team Support: Collaborate with team members and provide support where needed. Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Forklift license is required.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or a warehouse/yard environment is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Good communication skills and a team player mentality.
    Pay: £120 per day

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday 08:30-17:30. Overtime available.
