Discount Builders Merchants are a growing family-owned Builders’ Merchants with over 20+ year experience in supplying both the building trade and DIY enthusiasts. We currently operate depots in the West Midlands, Banbury and Slough.
Due to continued growth, we have a new exciting opportunity for experienced Yard Operatives to join the team nationwide.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

• Good oral and written communication
• Ability to use metric and imperial
• Manual Handling
• Basic Health and Safety
• Product knowledge
• Knowledge of all yard products
• Attention to detail
• The successful candidate will need to be able to work as part of a team as well as under their own initiative.
• It is not essential, but it would be preferred, for applicants have some experience of working within the builders’ merchant industry and have certificates of competence relating to forklift driving, either current or expired.
• It would be advantageous for the candidate to have a current UK Driving License
• Liaise with Counter Staff/Assistant Manager/Branch Manager on a daily basis.
• Flexibility to work shifts
• Ambition to work for a leading Builders Merchants in order to strive for success.

• Reliable and prompt
• Be prepared to offer a first-class service to customers
• Working Monday through to Saturday
• Previous experience working within the building industry would be advantageous

• To handle and maintain yard stocks
• Load orders on to company vehicles for delivery
• To deal with customers courteously and efficiently
• Ensure stock is displayed to its best advantage
• Ensure the premises are kept clean and tidy
• Check stock levels and report shortages to Branch Manager
• Put away delivered stock – checking it is correct against the paperwork
