The Yard Supervisor oversees the Traffic Clerks and manages traffic operations to ensure safety and compliance on-site. This role involves planning, team coordination, and enforcing traffic management policies, while maintaining smooth operations and adherence to legal and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide leadership to Traffic Clerks.
- Conduct training and ensure team members are certified and compliant with regulations.
- Monitor performance and provide feedback or corrective actions as necessary.
Traffic Management:
- Plan and implement traffic control systems to ensure smooth and safe vehicle and pedestrian movement.
- Coordinate with site supervisors to manage site access and egress effectively.
- Ensure all traffic management tools (e.g., signage, barriers, radios) are correctly deployed and maintained.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and method statements.
- Monitor compliance with company policies and government traffic management standards.
Investigate incidents or near-misses and implement corrective actions.
Coordination and Communication:
- Act as the main point of contact for site traffic management issues.
- Liaise with contractors, delivery drivers, and site personnel to coordinate movements efficiently.
- Report updates and incidents to the Station or Hub Manager.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of team rosters, training certifications, and incident reports.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on traffic management performance and compliance.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Proven experience in traffic management or construction site supervision.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to traffic management.
Desirable:
- Experience in team management or supervisory roles.
- Proficiency with traffic management software or tools.
Key Competencies:
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Bilingual French and English, other language an asset
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum).
- Traffic management certification and valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
- 5 years of experience in a relevant role.
Work Environment:
- On-site role requiring outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Fast-paced and high-pressure environment, particularly during peak times
