Description

As the Yard Supervisor / Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing mechanical servicing on our machinery and equipment, while also overseeing our yard, ensuring compliance and safety. This position requires strong communication, leadership abilities, organization, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to ensure the efficient operation of our yard and equipment.

This, together with a next-level approach to landscape and snow management practices, will be a core responsibility of a Yard Supervisor / Mechanic.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities in the yard, including equipment staging, inventory management, and maintenance operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of yard facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on a variety of landscape and snow management equipment, including but not limited to trucks, plows, mowers, and small engines.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and implement appropriate solutions to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for all yard equipment, ensuring regular servicing and upkeep to extend operational lifespan.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure necessary parts, supplies, and equipment for repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Train and supervise crews on proper equipment handling, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment maintenance and repair history, including service logs, parts inventory, and warranty information.
  • Implement cost-effective measures to optimize yard operations and minimize expenses related to equipment maintenance repairs.
  • Monitor and execute fleet renewal procedures to ensure up-to-date licensing and inspections.
  • Receive deliveries in the yard and assist with loading/unloading as required.
  • Ensure incident/accident procedures are followed and contribute towards identifying route cause.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and the business office, to support overall business objectives and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Understand Garden Grove’s operating software (ADP / Aspire) and follow processes for submitting and tracking operational activity.
  • Provide backup assistance to the field crews during down times and support other duties / special projects as called upon.
