Role Statement To supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in loading, unloading and delivery of materials and in the use and maintenance of machines and equipment in the lumber yard and in the warehouse. Location This position will be performed onsite at our store. Remote work is not available for this role. Outcomes for Success Screen, interview and hire applicants for employment. Train outside employees in job responsibilities and product knowledge of items stored in yard and warehouse. Conduct appraisals of performance. Receive incoming materials and direct storage in proper area. Prepare and reconcile bills of lading and packing slips. Direct customer loading and employee load building. Directs workers and assists in loading, unloading, and delivery of materials and in use and care of machines and equipment such as trucks, forklifts, and saws. Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, load limits, and that load is safe. Directs movement of shipments from center to destination. May assist customer with loading, delivery status information, inventory availability, and related problems. Coordinates load building and truck inspections. Schedule truck operations to ensure timely customer delivery. Assist with a total loss prevention program, including security, safety and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and property. Train outside employees in safe procedures, including good housekeeping and proper operation of forklifts and trucks. Assist store manager with purchasing and inventory control. Keep all outside areas neat and clean. Report any unsafe conditions. Interface with in-store personnel. May perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Training, either on-the-job or formal education is over 1 year up to and including 3 years. High School or GED preferred but not required Physical Requirements Heavy Work: Lifting or exerting up to 51-100 pounds of force seldom and/or up to 35-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or less than 35 pounds frequently to move objects. Heavy work involves standing and/or walking all the time. Requires the ability to work alone without risk to oneself and operate equipment without close supervision. Occasional reaching-extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Frequent use hands/fingers to handle or feel (operate, active, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, position) Wages Starting wages will be based on years of experience and education.
