Johtamisen ja talouden tiedekuntaan sijoittuva hallintotieteiden yksikkö on Suomen suurin hallintotieteellistä koulutusta ja tutkimusta harjoittava yksikkö. Sen koulutus- ja tutkimusaloja ovat julkishallinto, julkinen talous, julkisoikeus, kuntien ja alueiden johtaminen sekä ympäristöpolitiikka ja aluetiede. Lisäksi yksikössä annetaan opetusta ja tehdään tutkimusta korkeakouluhallinnon ja turvallisuushallinnon suuntauksissa.
Hallintotieteiden yksikössä työskentelee 16 professoria ja noin 75 muuta tutkijaa ja opettajaa. Yksikössä on viisi opintosuuntaa sekä neljä kansainvälistä maisteriohjelmaa, ja niistä valmistuu vuosittain noin 140 ylemmän korkeakoulututkinnon suorittanutta hallinnon asiantuntijaa sekä 10 hallintotieteen tohtoria.
Haemme nyt hallintotieteiden yksikköön korkeakouluhallinnon lehtoria toistaiseksi voimassa olevaan työsuhteeseen.
Korkeakouluhallinnon ryhmän (Higher Education Group - HEG) koulutus ja tutkimus keskittyy teoreettisen ja empiirisen tiedon lisäämiseen korkeakouluhallinnon alalta. Ryhmän toiminta kattaa sekä kansallisen että kansainvälisen alaan liittyvän uuden tiedon tuottamisen ja sen välittämisen.

The Faculty of Management and Business houses the Administrative Sciences Unit, largest unit in Finland dedicated to education and research in administrative sciences. Its fields of education and research include Administrative Science, Public Financial Management, Public Law, Local and Regional Governance, as well as Environmental Policy and Regional Science. Additionally, the unit provides education conduct research in the fields of Higher Education Administration and Security Management.
The Administrative Studies Unit employs 16 professors and approximately 75 other researchers and teachers. It has five study specialisations and four international master’s programs, annually graduating approximately 140 master’s-level administrative experts and 10 doctors in administrative sciences.
We are now seeking a University Lecturer in higher education administration for a permanent position within the Administrative Sciences Unit’s Higher Education Group (HEG).
The focal areas of HEG are education and research aiming at advancing theoretical and empirical knowledge in the field of Higher Education Administration. The activities of HEG include generating and disseminating new knowledge in the field both nationally and internationally.

JOB DESCRIPTION

University Lecturer’s duties within the Higher Education Group include teaching in advanced level courses (Master’s level) and development activities related to education. Additionally, University Lecturer will collaborate with other teaching staff of HEG in supervising master’s and doctoral theses. University Lecturer’s responsibilities also encompass active research activities, including basic research, projects funded by external sources, and societal engagement.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A doctoral degree from relevant field/discipline
  • Evidence of independent scientific research and active publication record
  • Ability to deliver high-quality, research-based teaching and supervision either in Finnish or English. For candidates mastering only English, strong motivation to learn Finnish is expected.
  • University pedagogical training or equivalent skills presented in a teaching portfolio
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills and the capability to engage with various stakeholders both within and outside the Faculty
    We expect demonstrated experience in teaching at the advanced level (Master’s level), thesis supervision, and proficiency in research methods. Candidates should also provide evidence of their independent research, publication activities, obtaining external research funding, and societal interaction tasks. A title of Docent, relevant to the field of Higher Education Administration, is considered an advantage.
    Excellent proficiency in English is required. The position may include teaching and administrative tasks, for which proficiency in Finnish is advantageous.
