About the Job
The Lead Teacher position reports to the Early Learning Director or Assistant Early Learning Director. The Lead Teacher is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all classroom activities that meet the child’s social, physical, emotional and mental growth within a developmental framework.

Some of the exciting tasks you will do as a Lead Teacher include but are not limited to:

  • Use your creativity to plan, supervise and implement the program in accordance with the goals, policies and standards of the YMCA
  • As a subject matter expert, you will use your expertise to effectively develop and carry out developmentally appropriate lesson plans
  • Use your passion for youth and experience administering the Creative Curriculum
  • Use your energy and excitement to develop and implement a daily routine of activities that allow for the child to experience fun, interesting educational activities
  • Attentively you will maintain the responsibility for ensuring the safety of the children in the program at all times
  • With enthusiasm you will effectively communicates verbally and in writing with parents, school administrators and colleagues
  • With a sense of caring, you will maintain an attractive and interesting classroom that engages children according to the YMCA standards and NAEYC guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Must be at least 20 years of age
  • CDA/AA/BA/BS in Early Childcare Education or related field
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Documentation of physical examination and TB skin test
  • Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting
  • Must meet the county/state licensing requirements
  • Must have three years’ experience working with children plus one year as a teacher working in a licensed center
  • Must have the critical skill of being able to relate to parents, school staff and children and have a positive, creative attitude
