About the Job The YMCA Reston is looking for a caring, helpful, and enthusiastic team player to join our Child Watch team. The Child Watch Attendant supervises children in the YMCA Child Watch Program. The attendant is responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable childcare for members and their children. Some of the exciting tasks you will do as a Child Watch Attendant include but are not limited to: Maintain visual and auditory supervision at all times Responsible for the safety and well-being of each child under their supervision and maintain a creative and playful atmosphere for all participants Plan and supervise activities for the children Plays and interacts with the children while they are in your care Changes diapers when necessary Shifts Available: Saturday – Sunday 8:00am – 12:00pm Qualifications and Skills: Must be at least 18 years of age Experience in childwatch preferred Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting Must be able to effectively communicate with children and parents Must understand and be committed to working with diverse population and to YMCA character development Working Conditions: Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time Must be physically active to play games and sports with the children Must be able to pick-up at least 35 pounds Must have visual acuity to observe all children We offer the following benefits: Compensation for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
