QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Motivated self-starter with superior technical, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and report writing ability;
  • Computer skills (i.e. ability to work in MS Word and Outlook);
  • Great interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with different personality types;
  • A minimum of 2 years experience;
  • Kinesiology degree OR Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant certificate from a recognized Community College, or other equivalent is an asset
  • Knowledge of the rehabilitation approach to patient care and the roles of OT, PT and SLP
  • Experience with rehabilitation services (hospital, clinic, community), pool therapy and/or personal training certifications are all assets and;
  • Access to an automobile
Responsibilities

Yoga:

  • Develop and lead one-on-one in-home restorative yoga sessions.
  • Complete session notes and detailed progress reports for team review;
  • Sessions will incorporate unique needs of clients after a traumatic injury that impacts cognitive, emotional and or physical function.
  • Conduct gentle and restorative yoga or mindfulness/meditation sessions with the goal to improve self-regulation of the nervous system;
  • Sessions may also target goals related to balance, range of motion, strength and/or pain management, grounding / anxiety management, activation and depression management, and mindfulness skills and relaxation.

Rehabilitation Assistant:

  • Perform 1:1 therapy session in the community (ex: client’s homes, work, gym, pool)
  • Implement light fitness or personal training programs in a gym, home, community or pool environment
  • Implement OT programming including cognitive rehabilitation programming and supporting clients towards independent living skills in their homes
  • Liaise with various community partners, medical and rehabilitation professionals who are also targeting pain, anxiety, and mood management through evidence-based practice.
