Schedule: Tue, Wed, Thu 10am - 6 pm   Salary: $19.21 / hour     The Young Adult Peer Mentor works one on one with Youth and Young Adults to inspire a healthy transition into adulthood. The Young Adult Peer Mentor) is a young adult (YA) who has personal experience living with and recovering from mental health needs, substance misuse, and/or traumatic life concerns. Based in the Healthy Transitions Drop-In Center, the Young Adult Peer Mentor will provide support, coaching, and modeling to improve engagement in healthy transition services.   Responsibilities include: * Carrying a caseload for the purposes of providing individual 1:1 peer mentoring. * Provides the core staffing for the Drop In center. * Uses the Young Adult Peer Mentoring Practice Profile to define role. * Provides outreach and marketing efforts to educate Youth and Young Adults and other stakeholders in the community about the program and services. * Helps the Drop In leadership and TIP Facilitator staff with the identification and accessing of existing and new services and service providers that will benefit Youth and Young Adults * Helps Youth and Young Adults to develop supportive relationships and community connections. * Promotes the development of healthy lifestyles and wellness practices, including substance misuse. * Supports Youth and Young Adults in the development of self-sufficiency and positive employment behaviors. Keywords: Youth services, mentoring, group facilitation, mental health, PeerSupport, Peer Mentor, CPS, Lived Experience, YYA, Youth and Young Adults, Peer to Peer, YouthQuake, VinfenPS Qualifications * A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree in a human services discipline strongly. * Experience as a recipient of services for people with psychiatric conditions and be well along in own personal recovery (self-knowledge and habits needed to support one's own health) required. * One year experience working with Youth and Young Adults experiencing co-occurring disorders in addition to psychiatric conditions required. * Preference given to bi-lingual/bi-cultural applicants. * Must be able to become CPR and First Aid certified within two weeks of hire, attend all relevant New Employee Training and either become a Certified Peer Specialist or successfully complete the Core Elements of Young Adult Peer Mentoring Training by six months of hire * Must be a least 21 years of age and have held a valid US driver's license for at least one year and should be able to pass a CORI, driving record, employment reference check as well as a multi-state background check.
