The Benevolent Society’s vision is to build a just society where all Australians can live their best life. For more than 200 years we have supported people at the margins of society: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians; children, young people, and their families; older people; carers and people with disability. We are an independent, non-religious service provider which supports people to live life their way.
As part of The Benevolent Society’s vision, we are strongly committed to reconciliation with our First Nations people of Australia. We remain steadfast in our commitment to promoting the economic, political, and social inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Carer Gateway is an initiative to provide carers with information, support, counselling, and coaching.

DUTIES

  • Assist young carers in managing their caring responsibilities and provide guidance on how to balance their caring role with school, social life and other commitments.
  • Help young carers to develop their confidence, self-esteem and social skills to make and maintain friendships and socialise outside of their caring role.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and deliver tailored programs and activities that meet the specific needs of young carers.
  • Engage with the community through various channels, including public speaking engagements, to foster dialogue, address concerns, and promote transparency.
