We’re looking for a School & Youth Engagement Coordinator to join our team at the Cambridge Food Bank. In this role, you’ll lead engaging, hands-on programs that teach nutrition, food literacy, and food insecurity awareness to children and youth. Your day might include delivering a classroom workshop in a local school, facilitating a youth cooking session in a school, at the CFB, or with a partner organization, or supporting a youth-led advocacy project. If you enjoy working with young people and want to make a real impact in the community, this could be the perfect fit.
Key Responsibilities:
· Deliver nutrition and food insecurity education programs in schools, at the CFB, and with community partners.
· Plan and facilitate interactive workshops, assemblies, and hands-on learning activities, including youth cooking sessions in schools, at the CFB, and with partner organizations.
· Support youth leadership and advocacy initiatives, including collaboration with Jr. Ambassadors, Junior Achievement, or other youth programs.
· Develop materials and activities that are inclusive and age-appropriate, reflecting the needs and cultures of participants.
· Build strong relationships with youth, school staff, CFB colleagues, and community partners.
· Track attendance, collect feedback, and help tell the story of program impact.
· Keep program information up to date and assist with online registration.
· Maintain a safe and inclusive environment, following food handling and safety practices.
· Work occasional evenings and weekends based on program needs.
Qualifications:
· Experience working with children and youth in educational, community, or recreational settings.
· Knowledge of nutrition, food literacy, or food insecurity and the ability to teach these topics in an engaging way.
· Basic cooking skills and understanding of safe food handling practices.
· Confident leading groups and delivering both in-person and virtual sessions.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to engage diverse participants.
· Able to adapt programming to cultural backgrounds, dietary needs, and comfort levels.
· Physically able to lift, bend, and be on your feet for most of the day.
· Valid G-class driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
· Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
· Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
Assets
· Diploma or degree in Education, Child & Youth Work, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Community Development, or a related field.
· Experience designing or delivering school-based workshops or youth cooking sessions.
· Safe Food Handling certification (or willingness to obtain).
· First Aid or Peer Health Worker training.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact through education, youth engagement, and collaborative cooking programs in schools, community partners, and the CFB.
