POSITION SUMMARY: The Specialty Instructor will plan, format and instruct classes. The Instructor will be instructing and evaluating our program to ensure a safe and fun environment for the participants, in addition to other duties and responsibilities assigned at will as seen fit by the Director. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Works with their supervisor to develop and implement age appropriate developmental curriculum; implements age appropriate enrichment activities happen according to the weekly plan. * Administrative duties - maintain staff schedule to ensure staff coverage while program is open. * Maintain a clean, fun and engaging environment inside the program while on duty. * Establish positive family communication and teach new skills including building relationships, social skills, independence, and self-reliance skills. * Provide an engaging and fun experience. * Encourage and deliver positive values and build developmental assets. * Be responsible for the safety of youth and staff while reducing and managing risk. * Mentor and coach youth and peers; supervise program area; implement program curriculum that supports trying new and diverse activities as well as healthy lifestyle choices. * Commit to staying current with youth development conversations and models through continued training. * Performs other duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands of the position include: * Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents. * Physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation. * Ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills. * Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to climb, push, and pull. * Ability to lift and carry objects up to 35 pounds. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: * Minimum of two (2) years progressive experience in the desired field * Certified in Infant, Child, and Adult CPR and Basic First Aid (or certified within 30 days of hire).
