OR – BA/BS Degree How you will make a difference (job overview): The Youth Counselor is the treatment team member who is responsible for providing direct care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the adolescents through direct and indirect physical and verbal interaction. Duties are performed under direct supervision of the Program Director, Facility Manager and Shift Lead; some tasks are accomplished independently. Provide day-to-day supervision, ensure safety and care for children individually, while in school and in groups. Promote and assist adolescents with self-help skills in the areas of eating, hygiene, and grooming, handling individual problems and other activities. Models and supports positive youth development and positive behavioral self-management through praise, attention, and use of behavioral incentive system. Encourages adolescents’ interaction and socialization with other peers, providing feedback to adolescents on appropriate behavior. Participate in Pro-Act crisis intervention as required. Note children’s progress in daily progress notes.
