QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or minimum 2-year diploma in a related field (e.g., social or human services, child and youth work, education, family studies). “Have specific training in understanding human growth and development, appropriate interpersonal skills, child safety training, and volunteer program management. This training shall include post-secondary education in human services, health or education, evidenced by the completion of a university degree and/or a minimum two year college diploma in one of these fields.”
Experience in volunteer management, recruitment, and supervision is an asset.
· Demonstrated ability to interact positively and supportively with children, youth, volunteers, and community members.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· The ability to make sound decisions.
· Must have a firm conviction of the BBBS Agency purpose and objectives.
· Ability to work independently with a problem-solving mindset.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· The ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds in a positive manner.
· Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom), and other relevant software.
· Flexible schedule, including availability for evening and weekend work.
· Valid driver’s license and access to own vehicle.
Contract Position: Full-time, 12 months with possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

This position will facilitate our mentoring programs including planning and implementing our one-to-one group mentoring programs. ensuring adherence to national standards while fostering meaningful connections between mentors and mentees. This position entails casework management, program coordination, and involvement in fund development activities to sustain our mentoring programs.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Youth Development Coordinator will include:

Evaluate and document the success in meeting the objectives of the Mentoring Programs on an annual basis. Establish realistic goals for the coming year and resolutions to any existing problems.

  • recruit, train, and support volunteers for the various mentoring programs offered by our Agency.
  • accept and document application of potential volunteers and clients (including parents, guardians, and youth, etc) following through with all applicants in a timely manner.
  • contact schools or other involved social service agencies as appropriate for assessment input and matching purposes.
  • manage intake of children and volunteers including orientation, interviewing, screening, and matching etc.
  • conduct the PreMatch training program with volunteers, youth and parent(s)/guardians
  • maintain case notes on all filesin accordance with BBBSC National Standards for casework management including uploading all pertinent information including match monitoring on Dynamics Case Management System as required.
  • make referrals to other agencies as warranted.

§ perform administrative functions as required to manage caseload.

  • provide regular or specialreports to the Executive Director, as requested.

§ participate on committees as required.
§ liaise with schools, other youth service agencies, other community groups, clubs or the public in general as required.
§ assist with recreation events as required.
§ complete a yearly performance appraisal including goals and objectives for the coming year.

§ remain aware of federal and provincial privacy legislation and the agency’s privacy policies and practices.
