Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? Do you thrive in a supportive, person-centred environment where every day brings new opportunities to empower and uplift? If so, LiveWest wants to hear from you!
We are looking for two Youth Development Workers to join our Supported Housing team, working closely with the local authority’s Reunification team. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to support young people experiencing family separation—helping them move towards safe and sustainable reunification, or where that’s not possible, guiding them through a nurturing and rights-informed care pathway.
Young people entering this service may be facing significant life challenges, including learning basic independent living skills like cooking and laundry, while also navigating emotional separation from their families. You will be working in an environment that embraces trauma-informed principles, recognising the impact of adversity and focusing on safety, empowerment, and healing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build open, trusting relationships with young people, colleagues, and partner agencies.
  • Deliver 1:1 and group support focused on life skills, independence, and personal development.
  • Use strength-based approaches to assess and support young people with compassion and care.
  • Develop and deliver engaging in-house programmes to boost learning, employability, and confidence.
  • Promote youth involvement in service design through meetings and feedback.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records including assessments and case notes.
  • Support young people with budgeting, welfare benefits, and tenancy sustainment.
  • Build strong networks with external partners to enhance support pathways.
