Description:
CLASI is a non-profit charitable organization that supports individuals with disabilities and their families. Currently, CLASI is looking for Disability Support Workers in our Youth Support Program to fulfill individualized contracts. Supports will be provided in the Saskatoon area and all supports are community based.
Job Description - To mentor & support youth (under 18 years of age) with varying abilities who are in the care of the Ministry of Social Services, Child and Family Programs. This program is designed to provide 1:1 mentorship, support, and quality of life to individuals by providing meaningful activities and programming in the community geared to the individual’s support needs, interests, and abilities.
Position details – This position is suitable for individuals who are looking to supplement their income, require a flexible schedule and/or are in Post-Secondary School. The right candidate will have a strong desire to give back to their community and want to make a difference in the lives of others. An understanding of the impacts of trauma and/or experience working in the Disability Sector is considered an asset.
Duties & Responsibilities - Independently coordinate your work schedule with the youth’s primary supports. Provide transportation, plan activities & community experiences, promote learning, and provide an environment of personal growth. You will provide ongoing feedback and evaluate the success in supporting the assigned child/youth being mentored by preparing and submitting documentation & reports.
EDUCATION:
- Disability or Rehabilitation Support Worker Certificate and/or related training and experience.
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s License and consistent access to a working/reliable vehicle, insured in the province of Saskatchewan.
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or willingness to obtain within three months
- Additional courses such as TLR, MANDT, PART or Positive Behavior Support are considered an asset.
SKILLS:
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work effectively with individuals experiencing disabilities, co-workers, and community partners
- Open-minded, creative, effective time management, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain strong communication with agency leadership.
Final Candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search.
