Our new Youth Disability Support Services focus on services to empower young people with disability as they transition to adulthood.
This service will provide the support young people need to build essential life skills, boost their confidence and strengthen their community connections along with support with personal care, medications, medical appointments, emotional and behaviour support and all general day to day needs.
We are seeking experienced and passionate Youth Workers with Disability experience to join our dedicated team in Calamvale, Inala and Goodna. If you have a genuine commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of young people engaged with the child protection system who have disabilities, in 24/7 Supported Independent Living, we would love to hear from you!

Responsibilities

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE YOU MUST BE ABLE TO WORK A MINIMUM OF 2 SLEEPOVERS PER WEEK AND HAVE AVAILABILITY TO WORK ACROSS THE FOLLOWING SHIFTS OVER 7 A DAY ROSTER, INCLUDING WEEKENDS:

Mornings: 6:30am – 9:00am
7:00am- 2:00pm
9:00am – 5:00pm (limited shifts available)
Afternoons: 2:30pm – 5:00pm
2:30pm – 9:00pm
2:00pm – 9:00pm
Sleepovers: 5:00pm – 9:00am

OTHER KEY DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Support young people with physical, intellectual, or psychosocial impairments in building independence through personalised care plans.
  • Provide personal care, including dressing, bathing, grooming, medication management, and toileting.
  • Empower young people to develop life skills like meal preparation, household chores, and cleaning.
  • Facilitate participation in community activities and manage the logistics involved.
  • Support engagement in education, vocational activities, and skill development.
  • Help young people build social skills and maintain relationships with family, peers, and social networks.
  • Provide emotional support, apply regulation strategies, and manage distress or escalation.
  • Accompany young people to appointments, ensuring their needs and opinions are respected.
  • Organise and support leisure activities, encouraging hobbies and personal interests.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, complete shift handovers, and follow incident reporting protocols.
